Recent Recall News – Part 9

Martha Stewart Stainless Steel Cookware Sets

On December 29, Macy recalled Martha Stewart Stainless Steel cookware from her 10-piece cookware set collection. Why? The metal discs that cover the frying pan’s rivets can pop off and hit consumers, which poses an injury hazard. About 121,000 of these units have been under scrutiny for recall.

So, how do you know that you’re looking at the right product? The collection includes an 8-inch and a 10-inch stainless steel frying pan with rivets that attach the frying pan to the handle. The rivets also have stainless steel discs on top of them. Other items included in this set are a 1-quart covered saucepan, 2-quart covered saucepan, 3-quart, and 6-quart.

So far, there have been seven reports of the metal discs popping off the frying pans, which included three minor injuries. Amongst these injuries were bruises, burns, and welts. As a result, consumers are urged to immediately stop using the 8 and 10-inch frying pans from the cookware set. However, it should be noted that the other items included in the cookware set are not affected by the recall at all. What should consumers do? After stopping usage, they should return the frying pans to Macy’s for a store credit for the full value of the two frying pans.

The consumer contact for this product is 888-257-5949 from 10 am to 10 pm Sunday through Saturday. This number is Macy’s toll-free number.

John Deere Zero Turn Lawn Mowers

On December 22, John Deere recalled Zero Turn Lawn Mowers due to a risk of fire, serious injury or death. The hazard is posed by a fuel hose, which could have been cut during manufacturing, which allows fuel to leak. This is what poses the fire hazard. About 150 of these units have been recalled.

As it pertains to a description, consumers must look out for the John Deere models Z445, Z645, Z655, and Z665 zero-turn mowers. These models were manufactured between August 10, 2015 and September 9, 2015.

So far, there have been no incidents or injuries being reported to the firm. However, consumers should immediately stop using the recalled mowers and contact a John Deere dealer for a free repair. After four cut fuel hoses were identified, John Deere decided to contact all registered owners of the recalled lawn mowers directly. If consumers need further information or believe that they have a defective product, they can call Deere and Company at 800-537-8233 from 8 am to 6 pm Monday through Friday and Saturday from 9 to 3.

Victorian Trading Company Tealight Holders

On December 22, Victorian Trading Company recalled tealight holders due to a fire hazard. More specifically, the diameter of the hole in the top hat is too small, which can allow heat to build up and create cracks in the surface, which poses a fire hazard. About 1,000 of these units were sold in the USA and another 13 sold in Canada. The products have a snowball-shaped character with a wire monocle on his right eye, a cigar in his mouth, and a black top hat with a yellow band above the brim. There is a hole located in the back of the item, which holds the tealight.

So far, the firm has received three reports of cracks in the holder but no reports of a fire. However, as a remedy, they ask that consumers immediately stop using the tealight holder and contact the firm for instructions on returning the product for a full refund. The firm is working to contact consumers directly. Consumers can contact Victorian Trading Company toll-free at 866-851-6633 daily.
