Do I have a case?

You may be asking yourself right now, do I have a case? How do I know what I should do?

If you or a loved one have been injured or suffered a loss, a million frightening and overwhelming thoughts may be going through your mind. You have many details to think about and many options to consider. It is important that you talk to a lawyer as soon as possible to determine if you have a case. The more time that passes, the more difficult it can become to investigate and pursue a case.

Contact us to set up a completely free, no-obligation meeting with a lawyer to discuss your options. We can answer your questions and explain different options you may want to consider.

The following are some questions and answers that may be helpful to you:

  • Do I have a case or not?
We try to determine whether or not you have a case as early as possible. We usually do not know at the time of our initial meeting whether or not you have a case. Generally, we will not know this until we have completed our investigation and review of what happened to you.

  • What happens in our initial meeting?
The main purpose of our initial meeting is for us to get a chance to meet one another and for us to obtain information about you and your case. The meeting will last about one or two hours and we will obtain detailed information about you personally, the facts giving rise to your case, witnesses and things of that nature. Bear in mind that this initial interview can have an important and dramatic influence on the results obtained in your case.In our initial conference, we want to give you enough information so that you clearly understand your relationship with us and with our firm, the problems involved in your case and the manner in which our law firm may be able to help you. This is also a time for you to ask questions about us and our firm, or questions about your case. We also want to make sure that you understand that the decision of whether or not to accept your case is generally not a decision made at the time of the initial meeting. More is required, including time to thoroughly investigate your case and conduct, whatever may be necessary in the way of any legal research, medical research or other matters.

  • What happens if MD&L decides I do not have case?
Under these circumstances, we will let you know as quickly as possible that we cannot handle your case. We will also let you know that seeking a second opinion is a good idea and we will make sure to outline the applicable statute of limitations in your case.
