Holmes Oil-Filled Heaters
Sunbeam Products, Inc. has recalled approximately 34,000 Holmes oil-filled heaters because the heaters can spray heated oil, posing a scalding hazard to consumers.
Approximately 40 customers have reported that the heater unexpectedly started to spray heated oil, resulting in damaged carpets and fabrics. The affected heaters are 23 inches tall, 6 inches deep, and 12 inches wide; black or white in color; and have model number HOH3000 or HOH3000B printed on a label on the bottom. Only heaters with a code on the plug blade that falls within G192 and G298 are affected by the recall. They were sold in Target stores and small department stores throughout the U.S. between August and November 2014 for approximately $50.
Owners of the Holmes oil-filled heaters should immediately stop using the product, unplug it, and contact Sunbeam at (800) 515-4715 or online to obtain a full refund.
Aloha Protein Powders
Aloha, Inc. has voluntarily recalled all packages of chocolate and vanilla Premium Protein Powder due to possible contamination with Staphylococcus enterotoxin, a pathogen that can food poisoning.
The protein powders were sold through online shops and in limited retail stores in New York between November 2014 and January 2015. The recall affects all vanilla and chocolate Premium Protein products manufactured by Aloha. The protein blends were sold in 14-serving sized steel tins and single-serving sized pouches. (The single-serving protein pouches may be inside kits with other products unaffected by this recall.)
Aloha has received reports of at least 17 customers who have experienced gastrointestinal distress consistent with staphylococcal food poisoning. Aloha is investigating its manufacturing, packaging, distribution, and ingredient supply to determine the cause of the contamination. Until the source of the contamination is confirmed, Aloha has ceased production and distribution of Premium Protein products.
Affected customers should have received direct email correspondence from Aloha, and more information is available on AlohaRecall.com or by calling Aloha at (844) 906-0499. Customers will receive a refund and store credit, and Aloha will cover 100 percent of the cost of return shipping of the recalled products. Customers with product remaining are asked to return the product and its original packaging for further examination.
Market Basket English Muffins
Flowers Foods has issues an allergy alert and voluntary recall of certain packages of Market Basket Fork Split 6-count Original English Muffins due to undeclared milk, which can be dangerous for those with dairy allergies. The affected English muffins have best-by dates of November 27, 2014 through February 6, 2015, and have the UPC code 0 49705 82137 4.
The affected products were sold in Market Basket Supermarkets in Massachusetts, Maine, and New Hampshire. Market Basket has removed this product from its stores, but consumers with dairy allergies are urged to check their homes for the recalled English muffins. Customers may return the recalled English muffins to a Market Basket Supermarket for product replacement or refund.
