Our Statement on Current Events at the Capitol

The United States is a nation founded on the rule of law, how differences are decided at the ballot box, and through debate. Not with guns in the halls of democracy. I am a proud member of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and the trial Bars of New Jersey, New York, and our Supreme Court. I, along with my colleges abhor the violence that has disrupted the orderly process of transferring power.

We trial lawyers around the country call upon our leaders to do everything in their power to put a stop to the violence now. We strongly support the independence of the judiciary, trial by jury, respect for the rule of law, access to justice, and fair and just representation of all parties through legal proceedings.

Whatever our differences may be, we believe in an open forum for fair debate, where at the end of the day all votes count, and the winner and loser accept the decision of the people.
