Anthony Sciuto ProfileWe are sorry to announce the passing of beloved friend and colleague Anthony J. Sciuto. A viewing and wake will be held Sunday, April 24, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Aloias’s Funeral Home (180 Harrison Ave. Garfield, NJ). The funeral will be held Monday, April 25, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Virgin Church (188 MacArthur Ave. Garfield, NJ).

Affectionately known as “Dutchie,” Anthony was born and raised in Passaic before setting with his wife Rita in Garfield. He graduated Seton Hall School of Law in 1968.

After practicing law in the community for a number of years, he served 20 years as a Superior Court Judge in Bergen County. In 2008, he joined Maggiano, DiGirolamo & Lizzi as an of counsel attorney focusing on alternative dispute resolution.

Prior to becoming a lawyer, Dutchie was a founding member and the original drummer for Joey Dee & The Starliters. Dutchie had to quit the band and joined the U.S. Marine Corps before the band had a #1 hit with the song “Peppermint Twist.”

The Honorable Anthony J. “Dutchie” Sciuto was beloved by all and a true friend of the law. He will be missed immensely.
