Scholarship Awarded to High School Student Jillian Royal

MDL Educational ScholarshipIn Maggiano, DiGirolamo & Lizzi news, a scholarship winner was recently selected for the second annual MDL Educational Scholarship. The chosen winner was a high school student named Jillian Royal from Academies at Englewood. Michael Maggiano has mentioned that it has always been a goal to the firm to invest in the community and the development of a deeper understanding of the law, and that the scholarship “allows us to help support the development of the future legal minds of New Jersey.” The scholarship fund was originally established by the attorneys with their desire to support the development of future legal minds with a love of the law, dedication to education, and support to their community.

The Accomplishments of Jillian Royal

Jillian Royal was deeply influenced to purse a law career through opportunities that she was given as a high school student and has taken classes in Introduction to Law, Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, and Issues in Law and Public Safety. She spends 8 hours a week at her internship for the Superior Court of New Jersey of Bergen County being able to get an inside view of the legal court system of the United States. She is also part of the Juvenile Conference Committee and Co-President of the Interact Club, along with many other outstanding extracurricular activities.

Jillian plans to put the scholarship to excellent use, as she is planning to pursue her law career by attending Montclair State University for a Bachelor’s in Justice Studies with a concentration in International Justice. She wants to eventually work on an international scale with the knowledge she obtains through college and wants to be able to help people in third world countries where law applies.

This is actually the second year that the scholarship was granted to a high school student, the 2014 winner being Claudia Fendian, an aspiring young lawyer from Bergen County Public High School. The $500 scholarship goes to those to help defray the many lingering costs associated with attending college, and MDL hopes it will aid in the first step on the very worthwhile journey toward a law degree. Every year, the candidates are judged on multiple different things including grades, test scores, activities in and out of school, and an essay they write about the influences that have taken part in their interest in pursuing a legal career in the future.

Each year, applications continue to open for the current year’s MDL Educational Scholarship. MDL hopes to continue this extremely fulfilling scholarship for years to come, giving many high school students an opportunity to get a head start on the degree they are working toward. The law firm understands the importance of law and the futures of the younger generation. College-bound seniors who are currently enrolled in a New Jersey High School and plan to pursue a law degree are always invited to apply to this wonderful opportunity.
We have to offer congratulations to Jillian Royal on her wonderful achievements!
