Online Whistleblower Complaint Form Now Updated by OSHA
Today, OSHA revised its online whistleblower complaint form in an attempt to help users file a complaint with the appropriate agency for whistleblower claims. This works as a way to allow workers to submit retaliation complaints to the U.S. Department of Labor. Workers can get to understand the laws by finding out the answers to some of their most burning questions relating to these laws. The system now includes pop-up boxes with information about the agencies involved in the whistleblowing process and what a worker can do.
Deputy Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health, Loren Sweatt, has commented on the updated system, “Workers who report unsafe conditions and wrongdoing have a range of legal protections from retaliation. The revised online complaint form works to ensure whistleblowers file their complaints with the appropriate federal agency for prompt action.”
Since 2013, OSHA has been offering protection through their complaint form. OSHA itself has consistently enforced 22 statutes that protects workers from retaliation when they report employer wrongdoings in a way to prevent adverse effects on other employees, all the way from water pollution to securities fraud. The system works as an additional way to reach out for OSHA assistance, that is easy to use.
